English Language Challenges

Hi there! today's topic is English Language Challenges, or rather how has been my experience in this area called the English language. at school, university and in my daily life.

English at the university has really helped me, more than learning new things, to review and remember those key English topics that one usually forgets, the order of sentences, or in which cases it is more appropriate to use certain words over others.

I think that what I need to improve the most is to memorize and internalize vocabulary, sometimes I use only base words and I have to resort to the translator or the dictionary to discover words, which probably I had already used before, but I just can't remember them, also to improve the pronunciation of several of my words since forgetting them also adds forgetting the correct pronunciation. On the other hand, I use English mostly to watch memes, but I also listen to a lot of music in English and I like to understand what I hear so I try to look for translations or learn the lyrics, I like to read and there are several stories that do not have official translations into Spanish, so the quick way out is to read them in English, so in these cases I also use this language a lot. I am really surrounded by people who speak or study English, my sister, my boyfriend and my best friend, all three studied and are currently studying careers related to this language so I am constantly trying to learn it thanks to them.

CHANGES IN MY STUDY PROGRAM

Hello, today the topic is CHANGES IN MY STUDY PROGRAM, as you know, I am a second year design student, so I will talk about the design career and the FAU, and the experience I have had in online classes.

I like the current program of my career, but there are subjects (theoretical) that tend to make it a little more tedious, but I would not take them out, but rather I would like to reduce them or that the corresponding works were not as extensive as some are, something that I would add to the current program, would be a subject where they teach and deepen on color, in the two years that I have been in the university we have really seen this subject very superficially, consequently we always have to be again consulting and changing many things of our projects for the same reason, when color is important in all areas of our life, and more in the design and we as students should know how to handle it backwards and forwards. Regarding the use of technology, when studying design, you already use many technological tools, from computers and programs to machines for cutting paper or wood, which (I have not had experience of using yet), some are integrated into the facilities of the university. As for the academic load, it is something that has been seen for a long time, being a career that involves projects, the hours of work for each subject does not leave time for us, so I would change this, promoting more work during class hours to leave the corresponding time to students for their leisure and relaxation time.

Time travel to the future

If I had to choose a specific time and place it would be in the past and in South Korea.

As I have talked about in previous blogs, I really like Asian culture. I would like to travel to the Joseon dynasty, this was a dynastic kingdom that lasted around 5 centuries, I never really liked princesses, but when I knew the Asian culture, how princesses and queens dressed and all the gadgets they used to look more beautiful than normal, really captivated my attention. I would not go to tell them what is in the future, but to observe more closely the experiences of women. Those were times where misogyny was completely normal, and where social classes were the most important thing. I would not stay there for the same reason, being a woman in such difficult times, I would simply be in danger, but I would stay for a while to be able to make a comparison between the current and ancient societies, and clearly enjoy with my own eyes the beauty that radiated from the women of that time. In addition to the above, at this time the Hangeul or Korean alphabet/script based on Chinese characters was created, inquiring about this and how the people of that time managed to adapt to this script is something that also generates in me the desire to travel to the past, it is very fun to understand the origins of things and how the human being adapts to that.

My future job

Hi, as I had talked in the last post about my major, today the topic is my future job.

Ideally, I would like to work outdoors, observe people, look for solutions through what I am currently studying, design. Part of the work I want to do is to be in contact with the world, to travel a lot, to know a lot and to learn a lot. Part of the work of designers is to observe, talk and learn in order to provide concrete and accurate solutions. I hope that my work can be outdoors, besides being collaborative and working with my own hands. Being a designer is a difficult job, first because of the devaluation of their work, but also because we are not only to give and deliver something nice or aesthetic but also to deliver quality of life and solutions to all the problems that currently goes through every person in each society. Whether visually or physically, the designer's work is directly related to people and their individuality.  I hope to work that way in the future, having direct connection with the users of my designs and learn from them and why not also take the opportunity to travel the world and meet other realities to bring with me new solutions to my country of origin.
